While you figure to be a statistical favorite, I prefer to stay away from 50/50s (or close to them) as much as possible. Heads up against a donkey I just wait to pick up a hand, then slowplay the hell out of them.

I agree. If you can outplay the opponent then chip away and get him when you're strong.
If I was raising here, I see nothing wrong with raising 40. Keep the pots small
at this stage and grind away at his stack. Mess him up.
If he's low stacked and makes this play, then I'm calling.

If the bet was around 400 instead of 900 I woulda insta call here since I'd probably be a statistical favorite to win the match. However, the bet here is just to big. I fold and look for a better spot to get my chips in.

well, its a turbo HU against overaggro donkey. so theres a great chance to end the match before i die to all his steals, he wont fold to any of my raises/re-raises preflop. and i cant limb because he bets like an idiot if i do.. so if id fold this hand my game would hang about my cards, not my play. thats the main reason i made this call and won. he could make that raise with ANY2, against the range he can make that push im probably leading 65-35, well anyways he had K high and i catched turn.
