As most of you know, I would consider myself to be a good winning poker player on Pokerstars.  Lately I've been playing a fair amount of Double or Nothing games, at most levels, but predominately at $10.40 level.

I'm challenging myself to complete and record results for 100 of these games, starting from tonight, to find a more accurate % of cashes, and to see if I can improve my strategy.  I'll try do this in about a week, but my main aim is to see if playing them is worth my while, as returns on individual games in themselves are low.

Worst case scenario, I'll lose $1,040, but if I can win >52 of the 100 games, I'll be in winning territory.  Obviously I'd like to do more than just win, and would be looking to make a good profit, but I won't speculate as to where I'll end up in the end.

I'm starting with a bankroll of about $140, so enough for about 14 buy ins.  I'd anticipate this should be enough, but I guess time will tell!

Happily the $1,040 loss is no longer a possibility.  I'm a bit tired now, so going to take a break.  I think I'm playing them well (feel free to disagree if you've been watching!), and if it weren't for an unlucky hand, it would have been 8-0 so far.  Luck is however a part of poker, so 7 wins, 1 loss it is.

Although it's only a small sample, and there are 92 games to go, $56.80 added to the bankroll will certainly make the challenge more easily attainable should things run adversely

Didn't catch any of your games tonight, but I've seen you play many games both regular and DoN and you do
play them very well.

I recall well the DoN where I was low stacked and you were chip leader.
Fortunately for me, you attacked all the remaining players with your chip advantage.
I sat back with next to no chips, watched you bust everyone else and I jumped the bubble Smiley

I certainly don't want to boost your ego any more lol - but it was some performance. Wink

Thanks 7...at least you had the good sense to fold to my ridiculous raises in that game Wink

Hasn't been such a successful one today - played 8 more, won 5, lost 3

Total so far is 16 games, 12 wins, 4 losses.  Total Profit $73.60, winning 75%.

If I continue at 75% it'll be a profit of $460, which would be nice, though 16 games is only the short run, and I'll need the full 100 before stats really start becoming reliable.  Luck as we all know can make you win or lose in the short run, but skill keeps you winning in the long run  Grin

Hmm...I just noticed you can now filter DoN games on sharkscope...so turbo $10 Double or Nothing games, I've played 142, won 90, lost 52

Played 8, finished 4-4...guess I used up my luck winning €3 on the lottery Tongue

22-10...though I did play and win a $104 DoN game too, but I guess that can't count for 10 $10.40 ones Wink

$107.20 and counting.  At $3.35 a game, for $10.40, that's about 32%.

The main difference between a sng and a DoN game is that in a DoN game, you don't need to win all the chips in it...sure it makes your job easier, but whether you have 1 chip when the 6th player goes out or in excess of 10,000 chips, you still only double your money.

The main differences I'd see are:

1. You should probably play tighter...I mean, what's the point in getting your chips in in a 50:50 race situation?  If that's the kind of game you want to play, why not go for heads up?
2. If you need chips later on, steal.  People close to the bubble don't want to damage their own chances of cashing, so are less likely to call with marginal hands than they would be in a sng game.
3. If you have chips, you can bully a little.  Small raises usually take down pots, but if a big stack comes over the top of you, it's probably best to fold the AK or JJ or whatever you have.
4. The main thing you should be watching out for is your position in relation to the short stacks - if you're not going to be the one put to the all in decision 1st by the blinds when you're on the bubble, even folding Ax or QJ etc can be a +EV play - why risk it when someone else is really the one in more trouble?

I'm in a bit of a rush, so I just threw this together quickly, so apologies if it doesn't make much sense - the basic concepts of the differences are what I was really trying to portray!

I havent tried the DoN games yet. I must be one of the last people..lol I just dont think I like the odds. In a $3 Sng 1st place gets 15$...as opposed to 6$. I havent been winning very much lately, just here and there but I will probulary break down and try one or 2. Some people I know do pretty well on them.
Good luck to everyone playing them  Smiley
